History

How the team was built

On November 12th 2004, Jeremy Lambie, Lance Zodrow, Dave Lemke, and Scott Hall met at The Charcoal Grill in West Bend, Wisconsin to discuss the possibility of starting a Semi-Professional football club to compete in the Wisconsin State Football League. Before concluding this meeting, it was decided that the group would in fact enter the 2005 WSFL season with the newly created West Bend Mustangs. During the next few months the organizers and coaching staff decided to change the team nickname to the Junkyard Dogs, a name linked to the past football heritage of West Bend West. The organizers also decided that if they could put athletes together from both West Bend East and West they would then have an excellent chance to succeed in semi-pro football.

2005

In the Junkyard Dogs’ first season (2005), its founders were proven correct. After a 3-3 start the team won its final seven games by a whopping 271-74 margin. In the championship game against the two-time defending WSFL Champion Oostburg Rebels, the Dog's were down 12-6 with a little over a minute left in the game and were 45 yards away in a driving rain storm. The team proceeded to drive the distance to tie the score on a Mark Hauer TD catch from Scott Hall with eight seconds remaining. Pat Klug followed up with a 2 point conversion run to seal the Championship in the Dog's first season of competition – exactly one year to the day they were formed.

2006

West Bend finished 9-1 in the 2006 regular season to capture the North Division regular season championship with the WSFL’s best regular season record. After two weeks, off the Junkyard Dogs then dropped the WSFL’s North Division playoff game to the Oostburg Rebels 20-0.

2007

The Junkyard Dogs went 8-2 during the regular season in 2007. They defeated the Racine Horsemen and the Stateline Hawks to get to the championship game. In the WSFL Championship game, the Junkyard Dogs fell behind 18-0 before scrapping back to take a 19-18 lead going into the 4th quarter. However, the Junkyard Dogs finally succumbed to the Fox Valley Force midway through the 4th quarter to fall 32-19.

2008

The 2008 Junkyard Dogs finished the regular season with 6-4 record, qualifying them for a playoff berth. They came up short in the first round facing the undefeated and eventual 2008 WSFL Champions, Fox Valley Force, 12-24

2009 A Year of Change for the West Bend Junkyard Dogs

Sources have informed me of changes within the Junkyard Dog Organization.

Jerry Thull (and JT Roofing) has become the majority owner of the West Bend Junkyard Dogs.

Jerry has named Jim Knowles as the West Bend Junkyard Dogs Head Coach. Jim is a 4 year veteran of the JYDs and has served as defensive and assistant head coach.

2008 WSFL ALL STAR TEAM ANNOUNCED

Congratulations to the Junkyard Dogs selected to the 2008 WSFL All Star team.

First team offense honors go to JEREMY LAMBIE at WR.

Second team defense honors go to BRANDON WERNER at LB and JASON BARBER at CB.

Honorable mentions to SCOTT HALL at QB, JON COLLIER and BENIE FABIAN at WR, the JYD O-LINE, DAN HALWAS at DT, TRAVIS LEPAK at CB, and JASON BARBER at Safety.
